Smithtown West and West Babylon are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Smithtown West will challenge West Babylon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Smithtown West will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
It was a classic East v. West duel when Smithtown West took on Smithtown East on Friday. Smithtown West never let Smithtown East get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Smithtown West has posted against Smithtown East since May 19, 2017.
Not much got past Azra Sciortino, who gave up just four hits to keep Smithtown East off the board.
On the hitting side, Smithtown West's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Cataldi, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Smithtown West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, West Babylon hadn't done well against Smithtown East recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles came out on top against the Bulls by a score of 4-1.
Autumn Romano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Lauren Giudice was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Eliza Tymann, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Smithtown West's record now sits at 13-5. As for West Babylon, their record is now 7-9.
Smithtown West couldn't quite finish off West Babylon in their previous meeting back in March and fell 5-3. Can Smithtown West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
