The Citizens Christian Academy Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Echols County Wildcats at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Saturday, Citizens Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-47 to Westfield School. While losing is never fun, Citizens Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Westfield School is ranked 82nd).
Despite the loss, Citizens Christian Academy got a solid performance out of Addy Harris, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Harris hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Meanwhile, Echols County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a rough 74-54 defeat at the hands of Atkinson County. Echols County was down 68-43 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Citizens Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Echols County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Citizens Christian Academy took their win against Echols County in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 68-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Citizens Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
