The Sulphur Golden Tors will face off against the Merryville Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Sulphur sitting on five straight victories and Merryville on three.
Sulphur had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Bell City on Friday. The Golden Tors put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 10-3 win. The Golden Tors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Pressy White was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. White was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlie Kyle, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maliyah Navarre, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Sulphur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Merryville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past South Beauregard 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 17, 2024.
Brooklyn Steward looked comfortable as she pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Merryville let Shaylee Lott and Brynn Beard run wild. Lott scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4, while Beard scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Lott has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Cornes, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Sulphur pushed their record up to 14-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Merryville, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sulphur hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Merryville struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
