The Crisp County Cougars suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were beaten by Monroe 70-30. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Crisp County has scored all season.
Crisp County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rj Williams, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and two blocks, and Zakariyya Dwight who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Williams pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Justin Burns continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Monroe, scoring 23 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Burns has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Still, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Crisp County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Monroe, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crisp County will take on Carver at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Carver's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 contests. As for Monroe, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dougherty at 7:30 p.m. Dougherty is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
