The Hawkinsville Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of Wheeler County by a score of 43-41. Hawkinsville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Hawkinsville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darius Anderson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 24 rebounds. Anderson is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Martin Mcdonald, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Hawkinsville now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Wheeler County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hawkinsville will take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Chattahoochee County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Wheeler County, they and the Falcons will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. East Laurens has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 558 points over their last eight contests.
