The Lely Trojans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 74-40 win over Estero on the road. The victory was nothing new for Lely as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Lely was led to victory by Oleksandra Rubanova and Sofiia Kiritsa. Rubanova scored 15 points along with four steals, while Kiritsa scored 22 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kiritsa has scored all season. Lashawnda Dareus was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Estero had strong showings from Amiya Lewis, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds, and Jaydn Hayes, who scored 17 points along with two steals. That was a full 45% of Estero's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Vaill, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Estero struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lely posted 15 assists.
Lely has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Estero, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
Lely will head out on the road to square off against Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Fort Myers: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Lely has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road. Estero will take on Ida Baker at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
