The Sidney Yellowjackets will take on the Fairborn Skyhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Sidney has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Fairborn will come in with 11 straight wins.
Things were looking good for Sidney after they put the first run on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Bethel by a score of 14-12.
Ivy Roberts made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base. Jaida Fisher was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Fairborn won against Piqua on Wednesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Skyhawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Sidney 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Skyhawks have posted since April 13th.
Kalleigh Offill made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up four earned runs off only one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lillee Walters, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Sidney's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Fairborn, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sidney has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. However, it's not like Fairborn struggles in that department as they've averaged .487. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
