Softball Recap: Warhill Extends Winning Streak to Four

Warhill had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Lafayette Rams as they made off with a 13-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-4 back in March.

Skyler Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Warhill let Ella White and Payton Auerbach - GMU run wild. White got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI, while Auerbach - GMU went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs White has posted since back in March. Annabelle Hall was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Warhill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Warhill's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette, they are on a 35-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Coming up, Warhill will head out to square off against Jamestown at 6:00 p.m. on May 9. As for Lafayette, they will challenge Smithfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Packers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
