Amarillo is 8-2 against Plainview since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Amarillo Sandies are taking a road trip to challenge the Plainview Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. One thing working in Amarillo's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
Amarillo picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They put the hurt on Bowie with a sharp 16-2 victory. Considering the Sandies have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Amree Anglin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Bentli Rodriquez was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted over her last nine contests. Braylee Shuffield was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Amarillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Plainview was able to grind out a solid win over Ingram Moore on Friday, taking the game 7-3.
Like Amarillo, Plainview also got a great game from a two-way player: Yaneli Jaramillo. On the mound, she pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Jaramillo a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Jakhai Gomez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Kaylee Sifuentes also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Amarillo's record is now 10-5-1. As for Plainview, their record now sits at 4-8.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Amarillo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .502. However, it's not like Plainview struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Amarillo took their victory against Plainview when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-1. Will Amarillo repeat their success, or does Plainview have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
