Basketball Recap: West Port Skates Past North Marion with Ease

West Port's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the North Marion Colts 58-13. The Wolf Pack have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Port to victory, but perhaps none more so than Soleil Smith, who posted five points in addition to eight assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Calise Smith, who went 7 of 11 en route to 15 points and five rebounds.

The victory snapped West Port's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-7 record. As for North Marion, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-10.

West Port will be taking part in a tournament against Forest at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Forest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. North Marion has already played their next contest, a 62-39 defeat against Belleview on the 16th.
