The KIPP Esperanza Eagles fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 28-25 win over Luis Valdez Leadership Academy on Tuesday.
KIPP Esperanza found their leader in underclassman Tuli Vea, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Torres, who scored nine points.
KIPP Esperanza's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
KIPP Esperanza will look to defend their home court on Thursday against East Palo Alto Academy. Luis Valdez Leadership Academy is on the road again on Thursday and play against El Primero at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully El Primero focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Monday.
