The Escondido Charter White Tigers had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Maranatha Christian with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 67-52. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, as Escondido Charter did.
Christian Nguyen had an outrageously good game as he scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Pincock, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, Maranatha Christian saw an underclassman step up: Adrian (A.D.) Ownbey scored 25 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Shane Piester, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds.
Escondido Charter's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Maranatha Christian, they bumped their record down to 9-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Escondido Charter will look to defend their home court on Friday against Foothills Christian at 6:00 p.m. As for Maranatha Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Bishop's at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
