Basketball Recap: Faith Jernigan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Glynn Academy over Bradwell Institute

Glynn Academy lost against Bradwell Institute on January 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Glynn Academy Terrors lost to the Bradwell Institute Tigers on the road by a 49-35 margin. While losing is never fun, the Terrors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Tigers are ranked 33rd).

Glynn Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Jernigan, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Mar'Kuecia Burton, who earned seven points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Glynn Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bradwell Institute to victory, but perhaps none more so than Parris Parham, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Parham has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. Ja?Nya Bush was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven steals and five assists.

Glynn Academy moved to 11-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Bradwell Institute, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glynn Academy will welcome Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Brunswick's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Bradwell Institute, they will square off against South Effingham at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bradwell Institute is facing South Effingham at the right time seeing as South Effingham is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
