Micah Figueroa looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.
On the hitting side, Cristian Morgan and Conrad Reichard did most of the damage at the plate: Morgan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Reichard went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs Reichard has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brady Snitker, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
East Valley Athletes for Christ came out on top against Canyon State Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 16-run third inning. The Eagles blew past the Rams 20-0. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won six in a row.
Asher Kellso made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Cameron Marshall was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Glasscock, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
East Valley Athletes for Christ always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Heritage Academy pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.4 runs over those games. As for East Valley Athletes for Christ, their record is now 9-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Heritage Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Valley Athletes for Christ struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Heritage Academy's way against East Valley Athletes for Christ in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Heritage Academy made off with a 9-1 victory. Will the Heroes repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
