The River Valley Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Purchase Line 86-40 at home. The win was nothing new for River Valley as they're now sitting on five straight.
River Valley had a senior duo take command as Dom Speal scored 21 points along with three steals and Brad McDivitt scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jacob Pynos, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Purchase Line's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephen Perruso, who scored ten points. Perruso continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Chambers, who scored six points.
Purchase Line struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-6) when they just don't pass the ball.
River Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Purchase Line, they dropped their record down to 1-18 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Valley will take on Cambria Heights at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Cambria Heights will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 597th, while River Valley is ranked 262nd). As for Purchase Line, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Conemaugh Township at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Conemaugh Township focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
