The Gadsden County Jaguars pushed their score all the way to 42 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 43-42 to Walton. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (34), Gadsden County still had to take the loss.
Walton was led to victory by Wells Bettenhausen and Corniulis Mckenzie. Bettenhausen rushed for 15 yards and two touchdowns, while Mckenzie rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.
Gadsden County's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Walton, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gadsden County is on the road again on Friday and play against Godby at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Godby is ranked 171st, while Gadsden County is ranked 160th). As for Walton, they will head out on the road to face off against Pensacola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Pensacola: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Walton has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
