The DSST: College View Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Arrupe Jesuit Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. DSST: College View will be strutting in after a victory while Arrupe Jesuit will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, DSST: College View didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Rocky Mountain Prep SMART, but they still walked away with a 55-50 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for DSST: College View.
Isaias Tomita was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with seven assists and seven steals. Tomita is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Josue Tomita, who scored 12 points.
Arrupe Jesuit won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They were dealt a 80-50 loss at the hands of Middle Park. Arrupe Jesuit has struggled against Middle Park recently, as their contest on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Arrupe Jesuit saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Xavier Martinez, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Martinez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Cowans, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
DSST: College View has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Arrupe Jesuit, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: DSST: College View have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Arrupe Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
DSST: College View was able to grind out a solid win over Arrupe Jesuit in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 48-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for DSST: College View since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
