The Copper Canyon Aztecs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Buckeye on the road and fell 67-30. Copper Canyon has struggled against the Hawks recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buckeye to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darius Haskin, who scored 21 points along with four steals. Haskin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jyren Griffin, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Copper Canyon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Buckeye, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-10.
Copper Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Buckeye will head out on the road to square off against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Horizon: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while the Hawks have snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
