If the Willapa Valley Vikings were riding high off their 48-14 takedown of the Columbia Adventist Academy Kodiaks last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Willapa Valley took a 48-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pe Ell on Tuesday. Willapa Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pe Ell apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Willapa Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tylar Keeton, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Keeton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rilyn Channell, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Willapa Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Pe Ell, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willapa Valley will take on Ilwaco at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Pe Ell, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Non Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th.
