Even though the First Assembly Christian Crusaders have not done well against the Harding Academy Lions recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. First Assembly Christian enjoyed a cozy 59-43 win over Harding Academy. Winning may never get old, but First Assembly Christian sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
First Assembly Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Georgia Ahlstrom led the charge by scoring 13 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlena Davis, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Harding Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Erica McGary, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, and Emory Miller who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that McGary scored 15 or more points.
Even though they lost, Harding Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
First Assembly Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. As for Harding Academy, they dropped their record down to 11-10 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
First Assembly Christian will take on Northpoint Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harding Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against St. George's at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
