The Wayne Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Geneva Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Geneva will be up against a hot Wayne team: the squad just extended their winning streak to ten. The Eagles never let Mynderse Academy get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Sunday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Kamden Frechette and Caleb Celso made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Frechette pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Celso struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Frechette has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Frechette went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Celso got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Crawford, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Brady Giudice also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Wayne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
While Geneva didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over Aquinas Institute on Friday.
Alex Dorrington was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Santos, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Wayne's record now sits at 10-0. As for Geneva, their record is now 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wayne has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Geneva struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wayne came out on top in a nail-biter against Geneva when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
