Baseball Recap: Bloomingdale Finds Playoff Glory Versus Horizon

Bloomingdale had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Horizon Hawks a 6-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Bulls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Hayden Porter tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Vincent Dinzeo Jr was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of James Osting, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Bloomingdale is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Horizon, they dropped their record down to 14-13 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Bloomingdale will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
