After flying high against the Desert View Jaguars last Wednesday, the Marana Tigers came back down to earth. The match between Marana and Tucson High Magnet School wasn't particularly close, with Marana falling 56-37. Marana has struggled against Tucson High Magnet School recently, as their match on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Marana had strong showings from Adrian Griffin, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Malaysia Roebuck, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Griffin has scored all season.
Destiney Brown continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tucson High Magnet School, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. Brown hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Kamila Vasavilbaso, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Marana's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Tucson High Magnet School, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marana will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Sunnyside is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.1 points per game. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they will head out on the road to challenge Rincon/University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Rincon/University focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
