After losing to the Ignacio Bobcats the last time they met, the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Montezuma-Cortez claimed a resounding 63-36 win over Ignacio at home.
Montezuma-Cortez was led to victory by Tay Wheat and Caidin Leonard. Wheat scored 14 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds, while Leonard went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 4 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Leonard has scored all season. Easton Hartsoe was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Montezuma-Cortez's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Ignacio, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10.
Montezuma-Cortez didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-48 loss vs. Pagosa Springs on the 10th. Ignacio has also already played their next game, a 62-31 defeat against Centauri on the 10th.
