After two games on the road, The Pinnacle is heading back home. They will take on the KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-27, which was the final score in The Pinnacle's tilt against the Huskies on Thursday. The Pinnacle has not had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Stephany Sanchez, who scored 21 points. That was a full 77.8% of The Pinnacle's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Violet Lozano Tapia, who scored a point along with five steals.
Meanwhile, KIPP Denver Collegiate managed to keep up with the Panthers until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. KIPP Denver Collegiate suffered a rough 38-15 defeat at the hands of the Panthers.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nicole Ricalday, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that she posted two or more blocks.
The Pinnacle dropped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.6 points per game. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
The Pinnacle was taken down by the White Tigers 47-13 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point The Pinnacle was down 24-0.
