Football Game Preview: First Assembly Christian Crusaders vs. Trinity Christian Academy Lions

First Assembly Christian hasn't had much luck against Trinity Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Crusaders will face off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. First Assembly Christian has given up an average of 30.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

First Assembly Christian is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against University School of Jackson on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Crusaders were dealt a 48-6 defeat at the hands of the Bruins. The Crusaders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-6.

Meanwhile, while Trinity Christian Academy put up plenty of points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Harding Academy. Trinity Christian Academy took their match with ease, bagging a 56-0 victory over Harding Academy. That 56 point margin sets a new team best for Trinity Christian Academy this season.

First Assembly Christian better keep an eye on Owen Atwood. He was instrumental in Trinity Christian Academy's win, rushing for 113 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries, while also throwing for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Gabe Lee was another key player, gaining 75 total yards and three touchdowns.

Trinity Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Trinity Christian Academy pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.3 points on average over those games. As for First Assembly Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

First Assembly Christian took a serious blow against Trinity Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 35-6. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Crusaders were down 35-6.
