On Thursday, Greene County was beaten by Biloxi 68-28. While losing is never fun, Greene County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 412th in Alabama, while Biloxi is ranked 41st in Mississippi).
When it comes to explaining why Greene County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Michael Gibson. Despite the final result, he scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Egan Daley, who scored five points.
Even though they lost, Greene County were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 12 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
This is the second loss in a row for Greene County and nudges their season record down to 2-13. As for Biloxi, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Hancock the next time they take the court. Greene County will host Hancock at 2:30 a.m. on Friday, while Biloxi will head out to face them at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday.
