The Elkhart Lions were the 54-32 winner over the Jimtown Jimmies when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Elkhart fell 53-45 to the Jimmies on Friday.
Elkhart lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Javeis Hines, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonzo Newbern, who scored seven points.
Jimtown was led to victory by Javen Jackson and Brandon King. Jackson scored ten points along with four steals, while King almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Fey, who scored 12 points.
Elkhart's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Jimtown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkhart won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Warsaw presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lions in Indiana (the Tigers are ranked 46th, while the Lions are ranked 337th). As for Jimtown, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Tippecanoe Valley is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.
