Basketball Recap: Franklinton Skates Past Oxford Prep with Ease

Franklinton was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Oxford Prep on Saturday. The Franklinton Red Rams claimed a resounding 77-17 win over the Oxford Prep Griffins. That 60 point margin sets a new team best for the Red Rams this season.

Leading Franklinton to victory were Kirby Ransom and Darius Slankard. Ransom almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards, while Slankard went 6 of 9 en route to 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave Slankard a new career-high. Amaure Williams also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Franklinton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

The victory snapped Franklinton's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-9 record. As for Oxford Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Franklinton will square off against Southern Nash at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklinton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for Oxford Prep, they will challenge Excelsior Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
