IC Catholic Prep has gone a perfect 7-0 against Westmont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Knights will square off against the Sentinels at 4:30 p.m. IC Catholic Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
IC Catholic Prep is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering De La Salle just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Meteors by a score of 4-3. The game marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Madelynn Dinino put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple.
In other batting news, Leilani Mendez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That hit marked the first that she has got this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westmont). They never let Our Lady of Tepeyac get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Monday. The Sentinels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 11 runs or more this season.
Like IC Catholic Prep, Westmont also got a great game from a two-way player: Desaree Shobutte. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Shobutte a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Westmont got a massive performance out of Gwyneth Jindra, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI Jindra has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Lexie Ott, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.
Westmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
IC Catholic Prep's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-3. As for Westmont, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Westmont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: IC Catholic Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Westmont, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given IC Catholic Prep's sizable advantage in that area, the Sentinels will need to find a way to close that gap.
IC Catholic Prep got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Westmont by a conclusive 18-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
