St. Johns can attribute much of their success to Evelyn Andrus, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Kayme Smith, who scored nine points along with seven steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Andrus has scored all season. Jaycee Willis was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds.
Even though Pinon has not done well against Hopi recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Pinon walked away with a 60-49 win over Hopi.
St. Johns is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. As for Pinon, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.
Everything came up roses for St. Johns against Pinon when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 58-21 win. With St. Johns ahead 36-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
