The Grundy County Yellowjackets came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 65-49 win over Forrest. Given Grundy County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Forrest is ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Forrest's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Villazon, who scored 16 points along with two blocks. Tristan Goad was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Grundy County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Forrest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grundy County will take on Cannon County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Forrest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cascade at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
