This season hasn't been kind to The Carrollton/Saginaw , who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They took a serious blow against Chesaning on Friday, falling 44-6. While losing is never fun, Carrollton/Saginaw can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Chesaning is ranked 144th).
Brayden Florian continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chesaning, rushing for 162 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, while also picking up 43 receiving yards. Florian is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Max Volk was another key contributor, throwing for 77 yards and four touchdowns.
Carrollton/Saginaw's loss was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-2 Millington and 8-2 Standish-Sterling (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68% over those games). As for Chesaning, the win was the eighth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Carrollton/Saginaw does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Chesaning will be playing at home against Central Montcalm at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Montcalm is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
