Apache Junction hasn't had much luck against Valley Christian recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Prospectors will head out to face off against the Trojans at 6:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Apache Junction was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past ALA - Ironwood 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Prospectors have posted since April 21, 2025.

Nathan Collier was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Conner Trisoliere was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian entered their tilt with Yuma Catholic on Monday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Shamrocks.
Ryan Sanchez and Cameron Bergloff made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sanchez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bergloff tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Sanchez has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one hit in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Sanchez went 2-for-3 with one run and one double, while Bergloff went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derek Arold, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.
Valley Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive games.
Apache Junction's record now sits at 4-12. As for Valley Christian, their record is now 16-4.
Apache Junction suffered a grim 35-0 defeat to Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Prospectors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
