They strolled past Academy for Classical Education with points to spare, taking the game 37-21. This was payback for Southwest, who suffered a 42-30 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Southwest was led to victory by Mohogany Tharpe and Lonnasha Graddick. Tharpe dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Graddick scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Graddick has scored all season.
Academy for Classical Education's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karlee Yates, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. Yates hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games.
Southwest's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Academy for Classical Education, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Southwest will look to defend their home court on Friday against Central at 6:00 p.m. Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 519 points over their last eight contests. As for Academy for Classical Education, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Spencer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Academy for Classical Education is coming into the matchup with three straight defeats at home, meaning Spencer will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
