In what's become a running theme this season, the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 57-33 margin over Northern Nash. With Roanoke Rapids ahead 33-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Roanoke Rapids' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darren Solomon, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Thomas Shabazz, who scored 13 points along with six assists and three steals.
Kingston Little and Trey Battle certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Little scored seven points along with three steals, while Battle scored six points. That's the first time this season that Little grabbed two or more steals.
Roanoke Rapids' win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Northern Nash, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roanoke Rapids will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bunn at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Bunn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday. Northern Nash won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Clayton at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th. Clayton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.8 points per game.
