West Rowan is 9-1 against Carson since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Falcons will take on the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Rowan has four straight wins, Carson has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

West Rowan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Davie, who was ranked 21st at the time (West Rowan was ranked 24th). The Falcons walked away with a 3-0 victory over the War Eagles on Thursday.

Arabelle Shulenburger made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Shulenburger wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reese Poole, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Lacey Houghton also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Carson's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of A.L. Brown on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for West Rowan, their record now sits at 10-2.

West Rowan took their win against Carson in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
