Camp Verde came up short against Phoenix Christian on Friday, falling 11-3. The Cowboys have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Camp Verde saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aramis Delgado, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Another was Wyatt Mulcaire, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Scottsdale Preparatory Academy and Red Rock have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Spartans blew past the Scorpions 18-6. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Scorpions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Brendan MacLean was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy is undefeated when MacLean posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Ben Bubar also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's record is now 7-9. As for Camp Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Camp Verde has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Scottsdale Preparatory Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Camp Verde's way against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy when the teams last played back in March, as Camp Verde made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cowboys since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
