The Fairfax Stampede were the 56-49 winner over the Central Bobcats when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Fairfax took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats on Friday. Fairfax has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Stampede players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ajana Kenyatta, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Kenyatta has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Melanie Romero was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
It was another big night for Lia Sims, who dropped a double-double on 43 points and 19 rebounds for Central. That makes it 26 consecutive games in which Sims has scored at least a third of Central's points. Another player making a difference was Shakeira Mosley, who scored 11 points.
Fairfax has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 11-15.
Fairfax and the Knights will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Metro Tech is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
