Clinton Prairie hasn't had much luck against Delphi Community recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Gophers will square off against the Oracles at 5:30 p.m. Clinton Prairie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Clinton Prairie barely beat Tri-Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gophers put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 14-5 win on Thursday. Considering the Gophers have won nine matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cayden Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Clinton Prairie let Jackson Price and Alex King run wild. Price went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while King got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Price has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Thomas, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Clinton Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in 13 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Delphi Community's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Sheridan by a score of 8-6.
Delphi Community got a big performance out of Xaine Tessier, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Keygan Elliott was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Clinton Prairie's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Delphi Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Clinton Prairie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Delphi Community struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clinton Prairie was able to grind out a solid victory over Delphi Community in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gophers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
