The New Diana Eagles fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took down Hughes Springs 37-21 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for New Diana, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
New Diana got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abbie Shafer out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Tibbetts, who scored four points along with two steals.
New Diana's win bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Hughes Springs, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Diana will take on White Oak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. White Oak has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Hughes Springs, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Gladewater at 6:15 p.m. Gladewater presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hughes Springs in Texas (Gladewater is ranked 724th, while Hughes Springs is ranked 1541st).
