The Richfield Wildcats will challenge the South Sevier Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Richfield will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Emery on Tuesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Spartans. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
The team relied heavily on Jess Curtis, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Malik Fautin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Richfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emery only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, South Sevier posted their closest win since March 21st on Wednesday. They skirted past Milford 4-2. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Stockton Roberts looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Peyton Ingram was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cannon Barney, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
South Sevier's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Richfield, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
Richfield came out on top in a nail-biter against South Sevier in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 10-9. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
