Thornwood hasn't had much luck against Crete-Monee recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds are taking a road trip to take on the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Thornwood's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
Thornwood was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Thornton on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds blew past the Wildcats 25-2. Considering the Thunderbirds have won 12 matchups by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Dajah Claggette made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Claggette was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Thornwood got a massive performance out of Milan Crain, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Crain has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mykyla Jones, who went 1-for-2 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Thornwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 23 runs the game before, Crete-Monee was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 18-2 to Kankakee. The Warriors have struggled against the Kays recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Crete-Monee saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taleeana Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Thornwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.7 runs over those games. As for Crete-Monee, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Thornwood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 11.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crete-Monee struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Thornwood couldn't quite finish off Crete-Monee in their previous matchup on Monday and fell 23-21. Can the Thunderbirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
