North Stokes took South Davidson into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-16, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Patrick County didn't have quite enough to beat Carroll County on Thursday and fell 3-2. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cavaliers 25-18 in the first set.
Patrick County started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 16-25, 25-16, 25-17, 15-13.
North Stokes will have to keep a close watch on Jenna Woods and Lauren Hazelwood, a pair of players who had a big impact on Patrick County's prior game. Woods had 12 digs and two aces, while Hazelwood had seven digs and one assist. That assist was Hazelwood's first of the season.
Patrick County's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for North Stokes, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.
