The Malad Dragons will face off against the Bonneville Bees at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Malad is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.
On Saturday, Malad made easy work of Declo and carried off an 11-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 16 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Riglee Peterson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Maroney, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Hadlee Summers was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bonneville had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Shelley on Thursday.
Gracie Longhurst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Mckynlie Cook was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
Bonneville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.
Malad's win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Bonneville, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
