The Greeley West Spartans's game on Saturday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Greeley Central 51-45. Greeley West was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Greeley Central apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Zepeda, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Zepeda is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Hernandez, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Greeley West's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Greeley Central, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
After both having extra time off, Greeley West and Centaurus will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Greeley Central will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Holy Family at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
