North Smithfield and Burrillville are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The North Smithfield Northmen will head out on the road to square off against the Burrillville Broncos at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Smithfield has four straight victories, Burrillville has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, North Smithfield faced Toll Gate in a battle between two of the state's top teams. North Smithfield walked away with a 44-31 victory over Toll Gate. The team accrued 33 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Kate Zonin had an outrageously good game as she scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryson Murray, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Burrillville, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-33 loss to Lincoln School on Saturday. Burrillville has not had much luck with Lincoln School recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
North Smithfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Burrillville, they dropped their record down to 6-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
North Smithfield and Burrillville were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January, but North Smithfield came up empty-handed after a 36-35 defeat. Can North Smithfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
