6A District 5 recap September 17, 2013
Gainesville's Tony James rumbled for the longest rushing play in 6A District 5 this season in his game against Madison County last week. James' team bested the Cowboys as he sprinted for 93 yards on the play and finished with 118 in all.
Forest lost to South Lake 42-19 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kenny Tucker ran for 133 yards in the defeat.
Vanguard's dynamic duo of Adam Robles and Natrelle Jamerson proved to be unstoppable against West Port, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Robles threw for 289 yards and 4 touchdowns and Jamerson had 158 yards receiving. Elkanah Dillon helped Vanguard's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 64 yards.
The Knights' dynamic duo of Robles and Jamerson proved tough for the Wolf Pack to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Tucker was the best running back in the league this week. Xavier Williams also contributed to the rushing game with 23 yards on the ground.
He was 12-30 with 0 interceptions.
Robles put up the best numbers through the air as Vanguard defeated West Port.
Jamerson was the best receiver in the league this week as Alex Castaneda's team bested Russell Holley's team.
The Knights' Robles and Jamerson have formed a dream team this season, leading 6A District 5 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Robles has thrown for 645 yards this season, while Jamerson has 16 catches for 280 yards. Forest's Tucker leads the league in rushing yards with 281.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Citrus takes on Skip Austin's team. The Hurricanes are in first place, while the Wildcats are in fourth place.
Citrus made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 709 from 875. The improvement came about via a 26-6 victory over Hernando last week.
