Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the South Colonels, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. Their rough 21-0 defeat to Grafton on Friday might stick with them for a while. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but South couldn't answer the 21 points Grafton scored afterwards.
Finn Gilmore was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
South has yet to win a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 6-3 record. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.3 points per game. As for Grafton, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South will take on St. John's at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John's is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Grafton, they will play host again and welcome Marblehead, where kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Marblehead will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
