The Southern Durham Spartans were the 62-48 winner over the South Garner Titans when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Southern Durham fell 60-53 to South Garner on Tuesday. Southern Durham found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 25 to 18 on offense.
Loss or not, Southern Durham got some senior leadership from Rah?shea Christopher who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds and Briana Hughes who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyana Williams, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Tamia Darden was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Taylor Moore, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Southern Durham's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for South Garner, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Southern Durham will head out on the road to face off against Riverside-Durham at 6:00 p.m. on November 29th. As for South Garner, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Middle Creek at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Middle Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
